10th edition of GJS gears up for festive season, kickstarts on a positive note today at Jio World Convention Centre BKC, Cabinet Minister Uday Samant marks his presence as Chief Guest

Giving an opening speech during the show
Rajesh Rokde, Chairman, GJC said, " I warmly welcome you all to this 10th edition of the All India General and Domestic Council. It is indeed a pleasure to have you here and to be part of what we proudly call our own platform.

We are honoured by the presence of the Honourable Industries Minister of Maharashtra. It is often said that when the industries of a state grow, it creates a positive impact across the entire economy. Therefore, we appreciate Industries Minister for the tremendous support extended towards the growth of industries in Maharashtra."

He also focused on various issues related to industry.

Cabinet Minister Uday Samant said," As we mentioned earlier, Maharashtra contributes around 7.2% of the country’s GDP, and the gems and jewellery industry plays an important role in this contribution. G&J industry is doing significant work for the industry and for the state, and therefore, it is our responsibility as the state government to create supportive and progressive policies for you. You may recall that Maharashtra was among the first states in the country to introduce a dedicated Gems & Jewellery Policy. I hope its been utilised to the full capacity and take the benefits available under this policy. f we look at the Gems & Jewellery Policy, it also encourages small businesses and start-ups within the sector. The objective is not simply to depend on business activity, but to ensure that the capital and resources generated through the industry are utilised effectively and that the benefits also reach society at large. In this regard, I believe Maharashtra is doing some very good work."

Avinash Gupta, Vice Chairman, GJC says, " The Government of Maharashtra has several opportunities and initiatives in the area of skill development.

Since the Honourable Industries Minister of Maharashtra is with us today, I would like to make a request on behalf of GJC. We would like to explore the possibility of establishing a dedicated skilling foundation, in collaboration with the government and universities, through which we can train and develop skilled professionals specifically for the gems and jewellery industry.

Our objective is not only to provide training but also to create a pathway for these skilled individuals to enter and build careers within the industry.
GJC is fully prepared to work together with the Government of Maharashtra to take this initiative forward."

Saiyam Mehra, Immediate Past Chairman,GJC and Convener GJS said, " We have established our manufacturing units across locations such as Navi Mumbai and Borivali, and we continue to expand our presence across the region.

Even today, when the hallmarking event was held recently at Zaveri Bazaar, Sachin Jain mentioned that more than 25% of the hallmarking in Mumbai is being carried out from this very location.

I would also like to highlight that, on behalf of GJC, our contribution to the industry is valued at more than ₹100–120 crore."

Srinivas Injeti, Chairman, NSE & Chairman Of The Board, IAGES says, "For the orderly and sustainable growth of any industry, you need a comprehensive framework. That is why the industry has taken the initiative to develop such a framework. If we look at the total turnover, it is approximately ₹1.6 lakh crore. So, I presume that represents approximately 10% growth in one year, which I believe is a significant achievement.

With the multiplier effect that this industry can generate, I am confident that it has the potential to grow very significantly in the years ahead.

In this industry, everything rests on trust. Therefore, trust must be our identity, and it must also be our competitive advantage. That is the foundation on which we need to build and strengthen this industry.

It is encouraging to see that IAGES has developed a strong partnership with GJC and other industry associations. Industry standards have little meaning unless the industry adopts them wholeheartedly."

Sachin Jain, Regional CEO - World Gold Council says, " World Gold Council has initiated its first training programme, with an objective of training approximately 20,000 to 25,000 retail sales staff across the country in gold-related knowledge over the next year. This initiative will help enhance knowledge and understanding within the retail ecosystem. It is also an important first step towards preparing ourselves as an industry to serve and educate the next generation of consumers.

Secondly, our campaign, “Movement is Gold,” is now being opened up for the entire industry. Going forward, this will not be limited to being a Gold Council campaign. Retailers from every zone will be able to participate in and use the campaign."
