The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) is pleased to announce the featured speakers for the ICA Congress 2025, which will take place in Brasilia, Brazil, from May 19-22.

Susan Jacques, President and CEO of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri, President of CIBJO, The World Jewellery Confederation, will highlight a Congress seminar series focusing on “Gems for Generations.”

“The ICA Congress is a unique event where industry leaders connect and discuss topics important to the health of the colored gemstone industry,” said Douglas K. Hucker, ICA CEO.

“The ICA is thrilled to have two of the most dedicated and passionate industry icons leading our conversations about ‘Gems for Generations,’ and we’re especially lucky to experience it in the beautiful surroundings of one of the great gemstone-producing countries, Brazil.”

Jacques has served in her role at GIA for the past 11 years. She first earned her GIA Graduate Gemologist degree in 1980 and subsequently served on the GIA Board of Governors since 1996.

In addition to her GIA GG, she is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Jacques has served many boards and foundations in the industry and been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. She is a sought-after, dynamic speaker who is knowledgeable about all aspects of the industry.

Cavalieri, one of the most prominent leaders in the international jewelry industry, has served for more than 20 years as President of CIBJO, The World Jewellery Confederation.

CIBJO is the industry’s oldest international organization in the jewelry sector, having been established in 1926.

The organization covers the jewelry, gemstone and precious metals sectors vertically, from mine to marketplace, and horizontally within each of the component sectors in the various production, manufacturing and trading centers.

ICA is pleased to welcome Rui Galopim de Carvalho, FGA, DGA, who returns to serve as the Master of Ceremonies. De Carvalho is a Gem Education Consultant, author and international lecturer on gemology as well as on the history of gem materials in jewelry of cultural heritage, including the Portuguese crown jewels.

The four-day ICA Congress will highlight dozens of presentations from colored gemstone experts as we explore topics ranging from new mining sources and technology, highlights of the colored gemstone community’s efforts to improve and expand supply chain sustainability and integrity, emerging design concepts and manufacturing technology, and strategies from business leaders to help you drive success in your colored gemstone sales.

The Congress will be held at the Royal Tulip Brasilia Alvorada in Brasilia, Brazil, a UNESCO cultural heritage site since 1987, situated in the heart of one of the most prolific sources of gemstones in the world.

The ICA Congress 2025 is hosted by IBGM Brazil.
