Cartier has implemented its first global price increase in over two years, effective May 14, 2025

21-05-2025   02:05 PM

Cartier has implemented its first global price increase in over two years, effective May 14, 2025. This adjustment is notably more selective compared to previous hikes, reflecting a strategic response to current market conditions.

Key Highlights of the May 2025 Price Adjustment:

United States and Europe
• Love & Juste un Clou Collections: Prices have risen by approximately 5–7% on average. For instance, the Juste un Clou Small Model Bracelet in Yellow Gold increased from $3,600 to $3,800 in the U.S., a 5.9% hike. However, several classic models, such as the plain gold Love Bracelet, have not seen any price changes.

• Timepieces: The Panthère and Baignoire watch collections have experienced more substantial increases, with some models rising by up to 18.8% in the U.S. For example, the Baignoire Mini Model in 18K White Gold with Diamonds saw a price jump from $48,800 to $58,000 .

China
• Notably, no price adjustments have been made in China, aligning with Richemont’s strategy to maintain price consistency across regions and avoid encouraging cross-border shopping.

Strategic Implications

Richemont, Cartier’s parent company, has emphasized a cautious approach to pricing, aiming to balance profitability with customer retention. Chairman Johann Rupert stated that the company would avoid sudden, sharp price increases to prevent consumer backlash and maintain universal pricing to deter cross-border purchasing.

Despite the restrained price hikes, Richemont reported an 11% year-over-year increase in sales within its jewelry division, indicating strong brand performance amid economic challenges.

For consumers, this means that while staple items like the Love and Juste un Clou bracelets have seen modest increases, many classic models remain at previous price points. However, with indications that Richemont may consider further adjustments in response to tariff developments, potential buyers might consider making purchases sooner rather than later.
